Hobo Launch

Last night, I headed east from the city for the opening of Hobo International’s flagship store.  Located in downtown Annapolis, just steps from the water, the space is open, full of natural light, easy to maneuver and full of beautiful Fall bags, wallets and purses.

The company was founded in 1991 and has been moving onward and upward ever since.  With the Chief Visionary Officer Koren Ray on hand, the collection and creativity was shared with attendees.  The inspiration from this season’s collection came from The American Journey and Vintage Treasures and was created by using luxurious prints and textures.  Her quote “Cool is when Vintage meets Modern” captures her collection and vibe perfectly.

The current collection comes in many shapes, colors and designs including an elegant foil pattern laid over the various shaped bags. Forward thinking, the wallets are designed with a specific space for Smartphones and bags have a hidden interior pocket for an iPad.  There is even a sheet of paper showing the consumer that the space is designed for such use, an added instruction that made me smile.  I personally would have never thought to put it there until seeing the guide while exploring the pieces. It made me smile… sometimes we do need the little instructions to help steer us to see the vision of others!

I had two favorites, both clutches.  The first was a long, charcoal grey felt clutch with a black leather holder built in to help the wearer carry the piece (Found in the Urbanite Collection). Brilliant and unique.  The second was called Katrina, a winter white snakeskin with a gold embellishment wrapped around the clutch (Found in the Opulent Era).  Both are available for viewing in their online Look Book.

The original Hobo bag was “inspired by the spirit of those who live by their own rules and navigate life’s journey in style.” A fascinating family brand whose free spirit and easy nature resonates through the creations.
